How to qualify business leads before you quote
Turn an initial customer enquiry into a clear understanding of scope, fit and next steps.
Understand the requirement
Ask what the customer needs, where the work is required and when they want to begin. Confirm quantities or scope before quoting. A genuine enquiry can still be a poor fit for your service area or availability.
Discuss budget and decision making
Explain your pricing approach and ask about constraints. For business customers, clarify who approves the purchase and whether they need documentation or an itemised proposal.
Agree on a follow-up
Offer a specific next step such as a call, site visit or written estimate. Follow up at an agreed time, keep customer information private and stop contacting people who ask you to stop.
